What are Trigger Point Injections?
Trigger point injections target small, tight knots that form within a muscle, often called trigger points. These knots can cause pain at the spot itself and in nearby areas. During your visit, your provider locates the tight band of muscle by feel, then inserts a thin needle into that knot. Most patients feel a brief twitch or cramp as the needle reaches the knot, followed by a quick release of tension. Some injections include a small amount of local anesthetic to help ease the muscle. This approach releases the physical knot and interrupts the pain signal it sends.
At PC Medical Centers, this treatment fits into a comprehensive plan built around your specific pattern of tension. Our team works in close collaboration to identify exactly which muscles hold onto tension. Every plan reflects your specific diagnosis, not a generic approach.
